A letter from a reader Quinty T-Shirt
The top that made people stop and ask where I got it.
On the Quinty — the colorful striped top with three-quarter sleeves, a V-neck that opens your face, and pockets. The one I now reach for without thinking.
I am 63 years old, and getting dressed had quietly become a question of which dull top to reach for. Everything bright felt too young or too loud; everything comfortable had turned plain and colorless. Most mornings I just grabbed the same safe navy jersey and got on with the day.
It wore on me more than I let on. I had started to feel a little invisible in my own clothes.
Then a woman in my church group here in Mount Pleasant kept turning up looking comfortable and quietly put-together at the same time. I finally asked her. She laughed and told me to read the Clarke family's letter first, so I am going to let their words carry it, because they say it better than I could.
1A print that gets you noticed — for exactly the right reasons

We printed the Quinty in a painterly vertical stripe — reds, yellows, teals, greens, blues and white that run like brushstrokes, not blocks. From across a room it reads as cheerful and vivid. Up close it has real depth, the kind of print where people lean in to look. Bold, but never garish, and it lifts a plain pair of white trousers or jeans the moment you put it on.
2Comfortable without looking like you gave up
We cut the Quinty with a relaxed body that does not pull across the back or grip the middle — there is real ease in it. But we finished the neckline cleanly, kept the hem level and used a fabric with enough body to hold its shape through a long day. It feels effortless. It does not look effortless.
3A neckline that opens your face, not your chest

We cut the V on the Quinty gently — open enough to sit away from the throat and give you room for a necklace, but no further. It draws the eye up, not down. There is none of the tight-crew pull that makes a top feel stifling, and none of the plunge that has you reaching for a camisole every time you bend to pick something up.
4Sleeves that cover the upper arm — and breathe

We cut the three-quarter sleeves to end well below the widest part of the upper arm — not at it. They are roomy, never straining at the elbow, and in a fabric light enough to stay comfortable when the room turns warm. No cardigan needed. No choosing between covered and cool.
5Long enough in front — even when you reach up

We cut the Quinty long — a proper tunic hem that falls past the hip and hangs level all the way around. When you reach up for a shelf, lift a grandchild, or simply sit down and stand back up, the front stays put. No pulling, no tucking, no catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and wishing you had worn something else.
6It fits the body you have, in every size
We make the Quinty from XS all the way to 5XL, and we cut it with room on purpose. It is meant to fit the woman — not make the woman fit the top.

Why they're clearing it now
They priced the Quinty at $100.00 when it launched, and it sold at that price all season. But for America's 250th, the Clarke family wanted to give something back — so every top is going out at less than half of what it was.
I ordered mine that same evening. It arrived a few days later in a kraft-paper parcel, folded in cream tissue with a small card from the family tucked on top. I have reached for it more than anything else in my closet since.

I do not usually write things like this. But I spent too many mornings reaching for the same dull top and feeling like a smaller, greyer version of myself — and this one cheerful, colorful shirt quietly changed that. If any of that sounds familiar to you, I hope you find your size before it clears.
